Many of our kitchens are fitted with induction hobs. As well as saving time when cooking, these have safety benefits, but they can be a little tricky to use if you have never done so before.

We’ve put together this step-by-step guide to help.
Firstly, it's important to note that you will need specific pots and pans for the induction hob to work. These are often made from iron or a magnetic grade of stainless steel. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of the pan then it will work.

We would recommend double-checking the specification when buying the pans to confirm they work on an induction hob. You can also check for the induction pan symbol.

Using your induction hob

Switch the hob unit on at the wall (this may also require pressing a boost switch).
Place your induction pan on the hob ring you wish to use.
Hold your finger down on the power switch located on the appliance.
Start cooking by selecting the sensor which relates to the ring you wish to use.
Adjust the heat by pressing the + and – sensors.
Once you have finished using the hob press and hold down the power button again to turn the appliance off.

Please note, without an induction pan on the hob no heat will be produced.

Do not use the appliance as a work or storage surface
Ensure the cookware that you are using is stable to prevent it from tipping over and causing an accident
Ensure there are no flammable liquids and materials on or kept near the appliance
Set the cooking zones to ‘0’ (off) when not in use

When cleaning

Clean the appliance with a damp cloth and some detergent
Sharp objects and abrasive cleaning agents will damage the appliance
For your safety do not clean with steam blasters or high-pressure cleaners
